About Dee

Dee on Writing Unexpected Answers

Many people, on hearing the amazing story suggested a book. As I had written some unpublished children’s short stories many years earlier, I was encouraged by my family to ‘have a go’.  While working  in an extremely quiet furniture showroom I began writing in a notebook, transferring and editing my words to the computer in the evenings at home. After many rejections from publishers and agents, the story lay in a file on the computer for a number of years until I was inspired to dig it out again and finally complete it!

I have been an avid reader since a very early age. Now, as an adult family saga’s are my favourites. I like to feel that the author has done some research, where the reader is perhaps taken to different countries with a thought-provoking plot. My local library is a regular haunt and a book is never far from my hands.

I sing with a local choir, and am a pianist. Up until my retirement recently, I entertained residents in care homes but now play mainly for my own pleasure. I also play keyboard for church services that are held once a month in various local care homes.

Last year I reached the short list of a competition to write a 50 word story and have written several Christian Gospel songs and poetry. Many years ago I wrote several children’s stories.

I love living in Eastbourne with it’s beautiful seafront, the South Downs and little villages. I’ve been here fourteen years now. I have three sons and a daughter and three grandsons and two granddaughters. Oh and I am an occasional dog sitter/walker to Lucy a non-springing Springer Spaniel and Misky, the Cockapoo. (Just like grandchildren, they can be handed back at the end of the day!)
