First blog post

Hello friends on this gorgeous Saturday evening. The sun is out and there’s hardly a breath of wind. Eastbourne is really living up to it’s title of the Sunshine Coast. These days my head is buzzing with ‘Unexpected Answers’, my debut novel. What is unexpected is all the technology I am having to learn. Facebook and Blogging! I never thought I’d see the day, especially at my age.

Just in case you’ve no idea what this blog is all about, let me tell you. If you know already, please leap forward to the next paragraph.  Unexpected Answers is based on the true story of my parent’s lives. They held onto a secret, certainly throughout my life, and took it to their graves. You may appreciate how, in the 1950’s, children were discouraged from asking questions. My parents deflected any curiosity on the part of myself and my siblings, so we knew few details. We had no living relatives to question. It took a miracle on the internet for my sister and I to learn the truth and that’s what is revealed.  The book tells of their meeting and the devastation they caused by their decisions. I don’t want to tell you too much, but the events captured within the book have been given flesh to the bones. When telling friends about the story, it was often suggested that it was worthy of a book, so I finally thought ‘why not’. Ten years later here it is!

Today I received a copy of the first suggestion for the cover. Although the designer caught my idea beautifully, I don’t believe it is the right one. A couple more suggestions have gone back to him so fingers crossed, one of them will be just right. I’m sure I’ll know it when I see it. It’s not easy trying to convey an idea in words via email, but we’ll get there sooner rather than later.

Lionel my publisher is suggesting October as the date for availability. It will be available on Amazon and high street book sellers like Waterstones and WH Smith.

Look out for my next blog when I will post a short extract.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this, my very first proper blog!
